There are one maybe two foxes out on the trails (T-field and Potato field) hunting and leaving tracks.

Smith Lake has a nice set of user created classic tracks. There are areas of slush and some thin spots in the ice.

T-field walking trail loop is done and signed. The trail goes north along the power poles and crosses the ski trail at the northeast corner. It then veers left in the center of the field and returns to the south east corner.

Walking Trail Change T-field- The walking trail no longer goes around the outside of the skitrail. It now crosses the field from the northeast corner to the middle of the west side, where it will enter the woods and end up on Smith lake. This last section has yet to be signed.

Ice thickness Ballaine Lake 5+" although there is a thawed layer about 1-2" down. Lake will be groomed next week if the weather cooperates.

Ice thickness on Smith Lake checked today; Potato Field trail access 5+" T-field trail access 5+" North west corner 5+" West side 5+" Southwest corner 5+" South side 5+" There is a thin spot between Potato field trail and T-field trail with open water. Ice thickness around the spot is all 5+" The 32+ temps on Friday softened the ice quite a bit. In some spots there is a water layer about 1-2" down. If the weather stays cold then Smith Lake will be groomed on Monday or Tuesday.

As with most trails, there is not enough snow yet to remove all the tracks. It will take a bit more snow cover.
