With snow now on North Campus trails, designated winter uses are in effect. Signs are posted to help in this seasonal change to separate skiers, dog walking, bikes and winter walking / snowshoeing.
All campus trails are designated non-motorized.
There are two improved winter multi use trails for those coming onto campus:
- One continues the path along the Farm Road from the west trial head, turning uphill above the west lighted UAF welcome sign and leads up behind the Farm to the hillside overlook at West Ridge
- The other route brings winter users close to Wood Center from Farmers Loop and Skarland Trail by a new signed crosswalk on Kuskokwim Way and then across the open grass slopes ending close to the Fire Station.
This season's maps show these new routes as longer dashed lines.
