Facilities Services is continuing to develop the 2007 approved "On campus trail plan" with site work in three campus areas this week:
1) The multi use commuter route along Kuskokwim Way will receive a cross walk to lead users along the west parking lot of Hess Village, then to the open grass valley below North Chandalar, stopping near the Fire Hall. Limited surface work will occur along the paved road edge. This is primarily a multi use winter route when snow cover is adequate for grooming. The cross walk portion of this trail will be in available year round.
2) Extending the Sheep Creek Commuter Route south along the Farm Road (West Tanana Loop Rd) to the lighted west campus entry sign. There the trail will turn uphill along the grass edge and continue on the established path to the "Farm Drainage Ditch". A small amount of fill will be placed on the ditch side bank to improve the ramp for winter bikers and walkers. Access will not be changed along the wood kiln driveway.
3) Additional clearing in the wooded section along the Butrovich Hillside winter multi use path to give the UAF ski team, among others, a wider trail condition.
